On 13 March 2001 a collection for the victims of the two massive earthquakes (13 January and 13 February) in El Salvador was launched by a group of Salvadorean UN staff members.

The funds collected (CHF. 10,100.–) were used for the reconstruction of the village school “Monseñor Oscar Arnulfo Romero” (see photo No. 1) in the municipality of Tecoluca, through the NGO “New Humanity”. The reconstruction has been carried out by the parents of the school children as well as the children themselves (see photo No. 2). Efforts have also been made by the mothers of the children who prepared dishes and handcraft articles which are sold to collect more funds in order to finish the construction.

Unfortunately some money to finish this project is still needed.
