The international officials’ association for a complementary health insurance.
The team
Adriana Triches and Julie Peysson welcome
clients, provide customer service, advice
and admission formalities; Geneviève
Racordon in the back office, is responsible
for billing and accounting; and Patrick
Brehm, administrator, constitute the permanent
staff of GPAFI’s secretariat.
Our members
GPAFI has now over 7,300 members. A
vast majority of them are active or retired
international civil servants, from UNOG
and other international organizations like
WHO, ITU, ILO, WIPO, etc., along with
their respective family members. Several
permanent missions to IO have affiliated all
their staff and certain other missions have
employees affiliated as individual members.
The insurance
GPAFI offers to international civil servants
a complementary health insurance, tailored
to their personal basic insurance, an insurance
covering the loss of salary in case of
long term sick leave, as well as an accident
coverage which ensures a capital in case of
disability or death, and provides coverage
for certain other events not covered by the
basic health schemes (accidents resulting
from certain sports risks, traffic accidents
involving third party liability). Moreover,
specific health insurance is offered to
people covered by the compulsory health
insurance in Switzerland (LAMal), for people
living over the border, and expatriates.
Our partners
GPAFI has negotiated group contracts for
its members with various different insurers:
UNIQA Assurance SA for complementary health insurance, SWICA Healthcare Organization
and INTRAS (CSS Group) for the
compulsory health insurance according to
the Swiss law LAMal, Chartis and IHI (Bupa
Group) for expatriate health insurance, Zurich
Insurance Company for the loss of salary
and accident insurance. A partnership was
also concluded with Europ Assistance, one of
the global leaders in the assistance sector, for a
complete portfolio of assistance and with Aon
Corporation, one of the global leaders in insurance
brokerage, for other specific services.
The advantages
Being member of GPAFI allows access to
the group insurance schemes with its many
advantages: individual advice, extended benefits,
easy claim procedures, short reimbursement
periods, a website dedicated to the insured
persons, and competitive premiums.
Our advice
Unlike the basic health schemes, supplementary
insurance is private insurance
and therefore subject to the conditions of
acceptance set by the insurers, particularly
as regards the applicant’s health status. We
therefore, cannot repeat it enough: don’t
wait until you need a supplementary health
insurance to apply, as there is a risk at
that point in time, of it being refused. Plan
ahead! Apply for complementary health insurance
as soon as possible, whilst healthy
and whilst you are not undergoing any form
of treatment.
