It’s the biggest social event in the UN calendar and it’s almost upon us. The 2009 UNOG staff gala rocks the Palais on Friday, 4 December, and promises to be bigger, better and bolder than ever before.

As we’re convinced that the UN’s got talent, the evening kicks off with a staff talent show. Singers, musicians, magicians, comedians, indeed anyone who can entertain a crowd can compete. A jury and “clapometer” will choose the winners. Accompanying the show will be a generous buffet and open bar, so no need to eat at home before coming.
Then, two great bands will entertain you into the early hours. The first, Mazombo, will deliver an unrelenting wave of sexy Brazilian funk. The second, Time Machine, will belt out a solid repertoire of classic soul and pop hits from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
There will be plenty of surprises throughout the night, sensational decor and a chill-out zone for colleagues in search of somewhere more discreet. Organized by the Staff Coordinating Council, the gala is free for all Secretariat staff members, consultants, interns and their partners.
