Yaxchilan

Yaxchilan, is a city located on the Usumacinta River in what is now the state of Chiapas, Mexico. The ancient name for the city may have been Izancanac. Yaxchilan means Green Stones in Maya. Yaxchilán is the only well trodden archaeological centre in Mexico that cannot be reached by car or bus: you have to take a boat trip on Rio Usumacinta or better fly by helicopter.
