THE LIBRARY CORNER

The Library constantly improves its services to respond efficiently and rapidly to your information needs. Many of our services are available online.1 Discover how to facilitate your work starting today!

Have to do research and cannot find the time to come to the Library?
Don’t worry! Contact us and we will respond quickly with the appropriate service. Ask your questions online using the “Ask a Librarian” form available on our website (www.unog.ch/library) and on our iSeek page (go to http://iseek.un.org, on the left menu click on “UNOG Library” and then under “Quicklinks” click on “Ask a Librarian”) or by email at library@unog.ch.

Don’t know where to look for books available at the Library?
You can find our catalogues on our website (under “Links”, click on UNOG Library Catalogue) and on our iSeek page (on the left menu, click on “Library Catalogues”). To learn how to use our catalogues, email us or stop by the Library and we will explain to you how the catalogues work.

Want direct access to electronic versions of articles and journals?
In addition to its print collections, the Library subscribes to a growing number of electronic resources that allow you to access a variety of information and journal articles from your office. To discover and access these resources from your office, go to our website (under “Links” click on “Online Electronic Resources”) or our iSeek page (on the left menu, click on “Electronic Resources”). We listen to your needs and welcome suggestions for new electronic resources, which we will make available quickly for a trial period. You can find products already evaluated on the same page and you can email us with your suggestions.

Have you searched our catalogues, but not found what you were looking for?
Our print collections are not limited to what you find in our catalogues. We complement our collections through an inter-library loan service, and we also welcome your suggestions for new acquisitions. Interested? Fill out the form “Suggest a new Book/Journal” available on our iSeek page or email us. You will be the first to receive it once its acquisition is approved.

Want to stay informed about current events and new books and articles on a particular subject?
The library staff can help you set up a personalized email alert service. Contact us to discuss your specific needs, and we will assist you in picking the most appropriate solution.

Want to learn how to use all these resources?
The Library offers group and individual coaching sessions. Contact us and we will come to your office or welcome you at the Library to suggest the best resources for you and help you learn to take full advantage of them. We also offer guides on how to use our catalogues and databases. You can find this documentation on our website or on iSeek on the pages dedicated to electronic resources.

And that is not all…
Now the Library offers the possibility to perform a search via one portal and obtain results from a variety of resources, such as our catalogues, ODS, the electronic journals databases and many more. This principle is called a federated search. Very soon, we will give you more information about this new service. In the meantime feel free to use it, go to our website or iSeek page dedicated to electronic resources and click on “WebFeat Search”.
