JOURNÉE MONDIALE DE L’ENVIRONNEMENT

« La journée mondiale de l’environnement le 5 juin est célébrée de plusieurs manières de par le monde, mais chaque année une ville se propose pour l’événement phare auquel se rend le chef exécutif du PROGRAMME DES NATIONS UNIES POUR L'ENVIRONNEMENT. Cette année le choix fut Wellington, la capitale de la Nouvelle-Zélande. C’est l’opportunité entre autre de remettre les cadeaux et les diplômes aux gagnants régionaux et globaux du 17e concours international de peinture par les enfants sur l’environnement (voir www.unep. org/tunza) tous et toutes réunis pour la cérémonie officielle. C’est aussi l’occasion pour Wellington de créer des manifestations (parmi lesquelles des concerts, plantation d’arbres, promotion de transports publics) liées au thème de l’année CO₂ NON À LA DÉPENDANCE! et de sensibiliser un large public aux problèmes environnementaux et à ce que les autorités locales font pour la protection et la gestion de l’environnment en adoptant des politiques durables».

 

The World Environment Day

“The World Environment Day 5 June is marked in many different ways worldwide, but each year cities request the honour to be selected for a special event in which UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME Executive Director participates. This year it will take place in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. Amongst other things, it is the opportunity to hand over the gifts and the diplomas to the regional and global winners of the 17th International Children’s Painting Competition on the Environment (see www.unep.org/tunza) all gathered for the award ceremony. It is also the opportunity for Wellington to stage different kinds of events (concerts, promotion of public transport, tree planting to name just a few) around this year’s theme CO₂ KICK THE HABIT!, to sensitize its citizens to environmental problems and for local authorities to show what actions they take to protect and manage the environment by adopting sustainable policies.”
