CE NUMÉRO DE JANVIER EST DÉDIÉ À NOS COLLÈGUES, VICTIMES DE L’ATTENTAT D’ALGER ET À LEURS FAMILLES.

2008. Dans nos bureaux de Genève, loin pour certains des réalités du terrain, nous allons à nouveau nous préoccuper des questions essentielles, voire existentielles pour notre vie quotidienne:
Résultat de l’enquête salariale qui tarde à nous octroyer cette augmentation tant attendue (qui ne sera sans doute qu’une stagnation) avec effet rétroactif. Prix de l’essence, de l’immobilier, des denrées alimentaires. Promotions frustrations, pourquoi lui et pas moi? Problème de transports, de parkings. Mobilité, ferai-je partie des candidats nominés?
Et peu, trop peu d’interrogations sur le devenir d’une organisation qui est utile sans l’être tout à fait, qui se voudrait indépendante sans jamais y parvenir.
2008 marque l’anniversaire de la Déclaration Universelle des Droits de l’Homme de 1948, l’un de nos textes fondateurs. Cet évènement marquera t’il un changement dans notre approche commune?
Notre tribune sera ouverte à cette occasion, plus particulièrement à celles et ceux qui voudront partager leur expérience, leurs valeurs et leur vison de l’avenir.

2008. In our offices here in Geneva, far from the realities of our field presences, we’ll begin to ponder once again some essential questions – and even some existential questions – about our daily lives. For example: Where are the results of the salary survey which has delayed the (retroactive) granting of that long-awaited pay increase (or is it simply stagnating?).
What is to be done about the price of gasoline, of housing, of the food we eat? How to deal with the frustration about certain promotions: why him/her and not me? The Mobility Plan: will I be one of the candidates?
And few, far too few questions among our colleagues on the future of the Organization we know to be useful but not entirely, and which wishes to be independent yet never quite succeeds.
The year 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), one of the fundamental texts of the Organization. Will this event change our common way of looking at things?
To mark this anniversary year, the UN Special will be an open tribunal especially for those who wish to share their experiences, their values and their vision of the future.
