BAZAAR 2007
Over three decades now, the Annual International Bazaar has been held at the Palais des Nations, and has become one of the biggest events in Geneva.
ISIL UZUMCU, CHAIRWOMAN
Every year the Bazaar attracts thousands of
visitors from the UN community, people of
Geneva and other neighbouring Swiss and
French towns. As we approach the month of
November, our customary visitors are already
showing signs of impatience.
Yes, you guessed right, we are ready to announce
that The 2007 Bazaar will take place
on 20th November at its traditional venue, the
Palais des Nations.
The preparations are shaping up well. The
lottery is rich in prizes thanks to donations by
missions, private companies, hotels, airlines
and generous individuals. I am delighted to
announce that the biggest prize is a brand
new Twingo. The lottery tickets have already
been put on sale.
The Bazaar Committee is trying hard to accommodate
a large number of applications
for national stalls. You can be sure that articles
you may wish to buy have been carefully
selected back in home countries. This year
you will also find the richest variety of food
at the restaurant counters.
All the work that goes into this Bazaar has one
common humanitarian aim : to help children
in need through carefully selected projects to
be funded with the earnings of this event. Millions
of children in the world are deprived of
basic human needs. Those in regions of conflict,
famine, poverty and disease are the most
vulnerable. It is uplifting to think that we can
reach some of them with a helping hand.
This is a joint endeavour carried out in a spirit
of cooperation and solidarity.
I warmly invite you all to join us on 20
November !
