PHOTOCLUB UIT-OMPI OPENS ITS DOORS

Got a passion for photography?
Want to pick-up and learn a new exciting hobby?
Or simply meet people who share the same
interests and have some fun?
Then PhotoClub UIT-OMPI is where you want to be!
Who we are
Founded in the 80’s, with members originally
coming from the International Telecommunication
Union (ITU) and World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO), the new PhotoClub
UIT-OMPI now opens its door and reaches out
to the UN organizations, diplomatic missions,
and their family members. It has been given
new momentum early this year with the creation
of a new and dynamic committee. The
photo club creates the opportunity to meet
various people interested in developing their
skills in photography and caters to photographers
of various levels – from newcomers to
experienced professionals. The club is definitely
growing, with around 30 members, and
is currently accepting new members.
Where we are located
Our headquarters are in ITU, Place des
Nations, where members usually hold
monthly meetings and other activities. We
also have a dedicated dark-room for film
processing, and computer facilities for digital
post-processing, Photoshop and photo
printing. But most of the time, for sure we
can be found out in the open taking photos!
What we do
For starters, the club members meet for a
monthly evening session where we get the opportunity
to learn and hear from invited guests,
who are either experienced photographers or
professionals from other photo club organizations
or photo schools. In addition, we usually
organize photo rallies, and participate in local
events like the Geneva Marathon, and basically
meet-up for outings, especially when the
weather is perfect for shooting. At the moment,
there is also an on-going advanced photography
course where members get to improve
their techniques together with an experienced
photography teacher. It is the aim of the club
to sponsor photo-related courses throughout
the year, ranging from beginner to advanced
lessons. One of our interesting initiatives for this
year is the photo competition. Each competition
comes with a varying theme with the objective
of letting members practice a specific photo
technique, and of course, we reward the
winners with exciting prizes. Towards the
end of the year, the club plans to culminate its
activities with a grand competition for its members
and hold a photo exhibition showcasing
members’ outstanding photos.

How to learn more about us
The club is online! We created our own official
