The recently elected ACANU executive committee gets ready to leap to the defence of journalists working in the Palais des Nations. The Association des Correspondents Aupres des Nations Unies a Geneve (ACANU) represents over 130 correspondents accredited to the United Nations at its European headquarters. It is the first point of call for U.N. officials when any issue concerning journalists needs to be discussed; it manages the press rooms and seeks to make the working lives of its members just a little bit easier, and it arranges meetings with nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) and others wishing to get their views across. It also holds a pretty good end-of-year party.
