Imagine that you are a citizen of a country outside the
Schengen area and that you work for one of the UN programme
or agency.
Imagine that you live in neighbouring France and need a
visa to be there.
Imagine that the only contracts you have been able to get
for the last couple of years are of one or two months’ duration.
Imagine that your “carte de légitimation” for each contract
arrives two to three weeks late.
Imagine that you would like to have a life: to be able to go
home each evening without dreading the border crossing,
take a low-cost flight and go away for a weekend, go to
Geneva for a concert one evening, …
Let’s imagine that the managers in our programmes and
organizations have some respect for their employees.
