Ce sont plus de 1000 personnes, répondant à l’invitation
du Conseil de coordination du personnel
de l’ONUG, qui sont venues fêter en toute
convivialité les 60 ans de l’Organisation des
Nations Unies lors de la Soirée «FOLK» du 28
octobre dernier. Le spectacle fut à la hauteur de
l’événement et c’est une véritable explosion de
couleurs, de danses et de musiques du monde
entier qui a envahi la Salle des Assemblées, le Hall
XIV et le Bar 13-15.
Le Directeur général de l’ONUG est venu prononcer
quelques mots de bienvenue et délivrer un
message du Secrétaire général spécialement dédié
au personnel à cette occasion.
La tombola dotée de lots prestigieux fut également
un véritable succès puisque tous les billets
ont été vendus. Cela permettra au Conseil de coordination
de remettre l’intégralité de la recette (soit
SFR 10,000.- ainsi qu’une somme de SFR 3,000.-
offerte par le DSR) à la Fondation suisse THEODOEA «Des Clowns pour vos enfants hospitalisés»
(www.theodora.org). Merci à tous les acheteurs
ainsi qu’à nos généreux donateurs (Garage Fiat
Meyrin, Joaillerie Adler, Volvo Autobritt SA, Carlson
Wagonlits, UBS, SAFI, Missions permanentes
et tant d’autres …).
Notre reconnaissance s’adresse également aux
Missions permanentes du Burkina Faso, de la Slovaquie,
de Maurice, d’Haïti, du Mexique, du Pérou,
du Portugal et du Rwanda qui ont assuré la première
partie du spectacle de façon extraordinaire
en nous faisant vibrer au rythme des danses, musique,
chansons et costumes folkloriques de leur
pays.
La troupe du Kentucky, nous a ensuite rappelé
les grandes périodes ayant jalonné les 60 ans d’existence
de l’ONU par un festival de danses et musiques
d’époque, de 1945 à nos jours. Merci à ces
artistes qui ont su faire vibrer la salle à l’unisson.
Merci à Alex et au Club de musique de l’ONU,
qui avec quelques potes à lui, nous a concocté un
spectacle ininterrompu, ponctué de jazz, tango et
moments d’anthologie au Bar 13-15, …jusqu’au
bout de la nuit …
Enfin UN GRAND MERCI à tous les collègues
bénévoles qui ont oeuvré dans l’ombre depuis des
mois et qui n’ont ménagé ni leur temps libre ni leur énergie pour la réussite de cette soirée. Une mention
particulière aux vendeurs de billets de loterie, à
l’équipe de déménageurs, et à nos collègues de la
sécurité qui, malgré leurs difficiles conditions de
travail actuelles, ont spontanément et volontairement
accepté de prêter leur concours à cette soirée.
Tout cela s’est terminé en beauté par une délicieuse
soupe à l’oignon offerte par notre restaurateur,
autour de laquelle nous nous sommes promis
de faire mieux l’année prochaine … si possible!

More than 1000 people responded to the invitation
of the UNOG Staff Coordinating Council
to celebrate together, on 28 October, the 60th
anniversary of the United Nations Organisation at a “Soirée FOLK”. The show corresponded exceptionally
well to the importance of the celebration and
an explosion of colour, dance and music from all
over the world invaded the Assembly Hall.
The Director-General of UNOG addressed the
public with a few words of welcome and also presented
the message of the Secretary-General that
was especially dedicated to the staff of UNOG.
Prizes offered were prestigious and the list
led to the total success of the tombola as all the
tickets were sold. As a result, the Staff Council
will offer the totality of the proceeds (that is,
SFr.10,000.- plus SFR. 3,000.- offered by DSR) to
the Swiss Foundation THEODORA “Clowns for
our children in hospital” (www.theodora.org).
Thank you to all those who bought tickets as
well as to our generous donors, (Garage Fiat
Meyrin, Joaillerie Adler, Volvo Autobritt SA,
Carlson Wagonlits, UBS, SAFI, Permanent Missions,
amongst many others…).
Our grateful thanks go also to the Permanent
Missions of Burkina Faso, Slovakia, Mauritius,
Haiti, Mexico, Peru, Portugal and Rwanda whose
magnificent contribution to the first part of the
evening’s show had us all moving to the rhythm of
the dances, the music, songs and national costumes
of their countries.
The dancers of the group Kentucky then took us
on a trip through the 60 years of existence of the
United Nations with a period festival of dance and
music from 1945 to the present day. A big thank
you to these artists that had us all moving in time
with the beat.
Thank you to Alex and the UN Music Club, who
with a few of his friends provided us with a nonstop
show of jazz, tango and songs at the Bar 13-15,….right up to the end…
Last but not least A HUGE THANK YOU to all
those volunteers who have worked in the shadows
during the past months, giving their free
time and their energy to ensure the success of
the celebration. A particular mention goes to the
tombola ticket sellers, to the team of removers,
the technical services team and our colleagues
from the security section who, in spite of the
current difficulties they are facing, spontaneously
and voluntarily assured the security of
the staff and their guests throughout the whole
evening.
The evening finished beautifully with a delicious
onion soup offered by our caterer, and around
which we all promised to do better next year….. if
possible!
