Why not do it ?

Lac de Ninu (Nino)

Starting at Ajaccio, Corsica, take the N193 road. Fifteen (15) kilometres after Corte, take the D84 road on the left, which leads to the Vergio pass (the highest point in Corsica’s highway system), until Poppaghia. This is the starting-point, at the parking lot by the foresters’ house. You start, at 1,076 metres, and head east on a small path. Follow it on the left bank of the stream (marked with yellow and stones). You pass by the sheep pastures of Colga (1,411 metres). The path continues, albeit with greater difficulty, with rocks, stones and slabs – watch it! On the way down, your joints will feel it! Your reward is at the Bocca a Stazzone pass (1,762 metres), with its 360-degree viewof the Corsisian mountains and, below, a basin with the Lac de Ninu and its pozzines.

You can get down to the lake (10 minutes) and walk around this feast for the eyes. It is a glacier lake situated in a very nice environment, with the reputation of being “the most beautiful in Corsica”.

You return by the same path. Time of the trip: 2 and a half hours to go up and the same on the way down. There are tricky sections, and the total change in altitude is 700 metres. This hike is considered a must by the islanders.
Also indispensable: an IGN map of France (4251 OT TOP 25 Monte d’Oro).
