ACFE Switzerland :

Chapter President has been Designated
as the Person of the Year Abroad

Dr Haluk F. Gursel, President of ACFE Swiss Chapter has been designated as the Person of the Year abroad by the Turkish newspaper ‘Hurriyet’ ( The Liberty), largely distributed publication with around a million in print daily. Dr Gursel is also the holder of prestigious ACFE 2004 award for the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Anti-Fraud Education’.
The designation of person of the year for 2004 was made in various fields like arts, medicine, sports and space sciences. Dr Gursel was named for combating fraud globally.
Commentator wrote that like others in their own fields, Dr Gursel is a person among those who are climbing up against a straight wall in their profession and is a winning name in the global competition in his field. The author added that he is far from any favoritism and is accomplished extraordinary tasks only by his own efforts.
Another commentator outlined the salient points of his biography and agreed that fraud is a global phenomenon to fight against. He added that the appropriate response to reduce it to its possible minimum is prevention. Nevertheless, deterrence, detection and the examination of fraud are clearly complementary tasks. The author concluded that similar renowned world-scale experts like Dr Gursel should be invited to countries with the task to work in combating fraud.
