Campaign on Ageing and Health
WORLD HEALTH DAY 2012
WHO

The theme of this year’s World Health Day is ageing and health.
The ageing global population will be one of the key issues for policy-makers, communities and individuals to plan for in the coming years. By mid-century, 2 billion men and women will be over 60 years old.
Using the slogan “Good health adds life to years”, campaign activities and materials will focus on how good health throughout life can help older men and women lead full and productive lives and be a resource for their families and communities.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the individual and societal misconceptions, discrimination and abuse that prevent active and dignified ageing.
It will also highlight ways in which we can all take action to ensure older people can play an active role in society.
More information on World Health Day can be found on the WHO web site at http://www.who.int/world-health-day/2012/en/index.html. Facebook and Twitter are also being used to raise awareness about the campaign and encourage participation.
